Il fondatore
Dr. Marco Tirelli is from Viterbo, the “City of the Popes” north of Rome. He studied law, played basketball and ran a yogurt bar in Viterbo – until he wanted something new.
Around 2016 he moves to Berlin with his family. The reason, in his words: „Avviare un'attività qui è mille volte più facile.“ Starting a business here is a thousand times easier.
Importing products from the Tuscia turns into an enoteca, and the enoteca into a small restaurant. An architect from Viterbo plans the interior, the furniture comes from his grandmother, and the crockery deliberately doesn't match.
Today Alessandro Messuti runs Tirelli's and has given the place new life: more pasta, Pinsa romana and a bit of Roma Nord.

La squadra
Alessandro is the guy with the cap, sunglasses and denim apron, usually with Fred in his arms, the house French bulldog. There's always a motorbike parked outside.
Why motorbikes? Alessandro is a Marvel fan, and his favourite is Ghost Rider. For lifestyle and outfit, he goes with Steve McQueen.
The guys at Tirelli's come from Roma Nord, the stretch between Rome and Viterbo. There you ride a motorbike, wear a leather jacket and argue about the derby: Roma or Lazio. That's exactly what the place looks like. They see themselves as ambasciatori di Roma in Kreuzberg. Nobody appointed them. The motto:
Be Roman, not Italian.
A word from Etruscan
TAMÌA means homemade
Tamìa is the name of the olive oil from Vetralla near Viterbo that Marco brought to Germany – and in Etruscan the word means “homemade”. That's exactly what it says under the logo, too: Finest Home Food.
Dal 2016
2016
Tirelli's opens as an enoteca at Kreuzbergstraße 29: wine, olive oil and delicacies from the Tuscia, plus a tiny restaurant with 15 seats.
2017
Tusciaweb and Berlino Magazine write about it: “Vi faccio assaggiare la Tuscia a Berlino”.
2019
Around 2019 the menu says: pick your pasta, pick your sauce – every dish €7. The idea still holds today.
today
Alessandro Messuti runs Tirelli's: pasta fresca, Pinsa romana, specials from the chalkboard, tables on the pavement by Viktoriapark.
